Why Donate

Restoring Dignity Through Donation

Though hair loss during chemotherapy is painless and usually temporary, it is often one of the most distressing side effects. It can lower a patient's self-esteem, causing them to withdraw into a shell. For many women, it is incredibly difficult to face their own reflection when they lose their hair, lashes, and eyebrows.

While natural hair wigs offer a sense of normalcy, they are often too expensive—especially for families already dealing with the high costs of chemotherapy. It is heartbreaking to see hair discarded during routine cuts, not realizing that it could have brought a smile back to a cancer survivor.

The Strength to Face Society

While medical treatment is the priority, a wig provides the emotional confidence needed to face society. Although some choose to embrace a "bald and beautiful" look, the majority fear social judgment. Many patients remain at home, which can lead to a loss of the will to fight the disease.

Losing all of your hair in just three days is a traumatic experience. The harsh reality is that many patients feel forced to hide their illness from society—and sometimes even from family. A wig helps them navigate these difficult situations with privacy and dignity.

Our Impact in Action

Since our first wig donation in 2013 at the Inner Wheel Club of Kottayam, we have grown significantly. We respect the privacy of our recipients and rarely publish personal details, but the impact is visible every day at the Cope with Cancer office.

With the support of institutions like Amala Hospital Thrissur and Thrissur Medical College, we have held over 25 major events and facilitated the donation of over 4,000 wigs.
