Direct Donation

Direct Donation

Giving a wig directly to a patient is a deeply personal experience. You can use the patient's own hair, or hair from daughters and relatives, to create a custom piece. Track your donation from start to end and witness the impact it makes!

Steps to Manage a Direct Donation

Identify a Patient: Ideally, this is someone you know personally. To ensure help goes to those in genuine need, we require a copy of the patient’s Aadhar card and a medical/scan report for our records.
Gather the Hair: You will need your own donation plus approximately 4 other donors to create a full wig. We can help connect you with other donors from our community if you need more hair to complete the piece. Follow instructions from our how to donate section
Connect with a Wig Maker: We can provide a contact for a trusted wig maker, or you can find one locally. Many will offer a discount when you explain the cause. Labor costs are typically around Rs. 3000.
Wash and Style: Once the wig is made, take it to a salon to be washed and styled to suit the patient. Follow the wig maker's instructions to prevent tangling or damage. We've found that using rollers or tying it up works well
Inspire Others: Email us pictures and videos of the handover. Seeing the "tears of joy" is what inspires the next group of donors to step in!
Note: These are budget wigs, and may not be comparable in appearance to professional wigs, which typically cost many times as much. However, this program is free to apply to and accessible to anyone.

Our Trusted Partner

Hair donations to Hair for Hope are managed in partnership with Cope with Cancer (Madat Trust), a registered NGO dedicated to supporting patients undergoing chemotherapy across India.

From Donation to Wig

Donated hair is sorted by quality. It takes approximately 5kg of high-quality hair to produce 8 short-haired wigs, as only 40-50% of donated hair typically meets standards for wig-making.

Zero Cost

None of the hair donated is ever sold. Every usable strand is used to create wigs for patients nationwide—provided at absolutely no cost to the recipient.
